Like everyone else, I was shocked and saddened to learn of Blake’s passing. My thoughts immediately went to the family: Mr. Bruce, his brothers, his wife and kids. What a terrible, terrible loss for them and I am so sorry.

I will remember Blake the same way so many have already eloquently stated, as a strong leader who led by example. Through good times and bad, Blake could be counted on to prop us up and lead us into the future. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to see his example day in and day out.

Just a quick short memory: a few years ago I was in the elevator with him and it was just the two of us. He pulled out his phone and showed me some beautiful pictures of Lake Washington. He was beaming with pride when he said “Aren’t these pictures beautiful? My son Andy was rowing this morning and took them. Doesn’t it look beautiful out there?” Blake was not one to let anyone ride in an elevator with him without making some sort of a connection with them.

I will continue to keep the family in my prayers and may you find some comfort in the memories being shared. He truly was one of a kind and he will be sorely missed.
