Blake had a way of making you feel special and appreciated. That big smile and bright eyes conveyed a curiosity and concern for all Nordstrom employees. He made you feel valued and in turn you would feel proud to work for a company that had leaders like Blake. My interactions with Blake were limited, but they were important and special to me nonetheless. He knew I was a long time employee and he would recognize me, we could have a short but sweet conversation about the holidays or his family.
I wrote a note of well wishes to Blake when he announced his lymphoma. I knew he would have some trying days ahead and I wanted to pass along my concern and well wishes. To my surprise….he replied. I didn’t expect that, but that is just who Blake was. His battle was blessedly brief and my heart breaks for his loved ones.
