A Genuinely Nice Man
So, this story about Blake has nothing to do with the company, just the person he was. Hank and I were at SeaTac flying out and at the Alaska Airlines counter. Blake and his son walked up and greeted us and said they were on their way for a weekend trip. The airline representative could not locate his reservation. He smiled and laughed while she frantically tried to find it. After making a call, they figured out that the reservation was never purchased. Blake was incredible. The Alaska Airlines Rep said to him “Mr. Nordstrom, you are the kindest and nicest person I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with”. He giggled and thanked her. He was kind to everyone, whether they worked for him or not. Quick personal story: He sent me home from Anniversary setup as I was 9 months pregnant. It was 100 degrees out and I should not have been there. He cared enough that he walked downstairs to Hank and said “tell her to go home and rest!” He was a very special person.
